Maxing

After a little more than two years, I let my beloved Mini go. And, last night, I sold our Honda Ridgeline that we’d owned for almost a decade.

We need to get a car for the Medium Boy and I am out of space in the driveway, so two cars needed to become one for a while. Both of those vehicles were great tools, a joy to use for their intended purposes. And the Mini was easily one of my favorite cars, a go kart with air conditioning.

Someday, I may get another. The style, ride, performance and overall ethos suits me. But the thought of higher-mileage repairs scared me a bit, I’m not going to lie.

Plus, I listed my politics on Facebook years ago as Subaru and we haven’t owned one in the last ten years, that’s not corrected.

Management

We host a Management Seminar for College News Editors every summer, I’ve participated almost every year since 2007 (and have the shirts to prove it). Part of the week is a breaking news exercise, where editors from across the country have to work on a team to cover an event.

This year, we ended up with a fire alarm going off in the building that was not part of the exercise, so the kids grabbed laptops and worked outside for a bit.
