Early Light

Camden, South Carolina

Before we wrapped the first day of the University of South Carolina’s workshop, we let the students know when sunrise was going to hit the Carolina Cup grounds – and that two of us would be there before that happened.

One student joined us, a few others trickled in shortly after. What a sight … that early golden sun just poured into the stable area and then an honest-to-goodness modern cowboy walked into the light.

The rest of the day was going to be hard pressed to beat those fleeting rays.

Headed up to Camden to work with students from the UNiversity of South Carolina at their workshop. They’ll be covering the Carolina Cup for the next few days, excited to be a coach and not in charge.

RIght outside the old railroad depot we ran the Woodall Weekend Workshop out of was a USGS geodetic marker. I learned of these in the mid-90s when one was used on a rally. Except it was on a beach and another competitor covered it in sand so no one else could find it.

I’m not bitter anymore …
